Comcast Xfinity Gigabit Internet

Comcast Xfinity has gigabit internet available in numerous markets throughout the United States. These are some of the fastest internet speeds you’ll be able to get at a residential address. As of right now a lot of markets can get the Gigabit internet plan with some being able to get the Gigabit Pro which is essentially 2 gigabit (2000 Mbps).

You can use the Comcast website to easily see what type of speeds are available for your address. The price on their gigabit plan starts at $70 per month and can go clear up to an advertised $249.99 per month for the two gigabits. You’ll also want to make sure you have right modem and router to get the most out of your gigabit internet if you do choose the higher speed plans as many older router and modems won’t give you gigabit speeds over WiFi. You can many times save money by buying your own modem instead of renting from Comcast.

What Internet Speeds Do You Need?

When choosing one of the plans above you’ll need to figure out what speed you need for your home. If you’re someone who just uses a laptop on Wifi for basic tasks then you’re not going to need the same as someone who is gaming and streaming multiple devices at once. We’ve posted a basic guide below that appears on the Xfinity website to help you figure out what type of upload speeds and download speeds you’ll need.

  • 15 to 60 Mbps – This speed is good for up to 5 devices with light streaming and usage.
  • 100 to 150 Mbps – This speed is good for up to 8 devices at a time with multiple devices being able to stream at once.
  • Up To 250 Mbps – This speed is good for up to 11 devices at a time. Good for multiple HD streaming devices and gaming.
  • Up To 400 Mbps – This speed is good for up to 12+ devices at a time. This speed is good for multiple devices with HD streaming, multi-player gaming, and other heavy data usage activities.
  • Up To 1000 Mbps (Gigabit) – This speed is good for 15+ devices. This plan is good for multiple devices with 4K streaming, multi-player gaming, and fast downloads. This is the fastest internet speed that Comcast Xfinity currently offers.

Questions, Comments, and Customer Reviews
If you have any questions about Xfinity’s internet-only plans or your own review of their service leave them below. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have.

  1. Hi Robert,

If you use any of the links above within this guide it should send you to the official Xfinity website. You’ll be able to put in your address and find all of the top offers and discounts available specific to your location. You should be eligible for numerous Triple Play deals since you’re getting phone, internet, and cable bundled together.

  2. Xfinity makes it EXTREMELY hard to drop their TV service if you’ve been using a “bundle” from them. I want the Performance Pro package only. I keep getting shifted around to different customer service reps (aka, “retention specialists”), some of whom plead ignorance of an internet only service, and several for whom English is not their primary language. It’s frustrating.

With that package, and PSVue Core I can save $70/mo and still be able to telework.
